Anything Goes at Addicted To Stamps

Hello and hope you are well and ready for a brand new week!
November is a month of making handmade cards as I have quite a number of friends/family who are celebrating a birthday - me included!
So to kick off, I made this card for my son-in-law whose birthday is this week.  It was quick and easy to make; I gave it to him today and I was pleased when he actually noticed the 'lines' (as he called them); he thought they were a nice wee touch!  Don't you just love the little ties?
I'm entering this card into Challenge #119 at Addicted to Stamps, where Anything Goes this week, as long as it's Clean and Simple.

(All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise stated)

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Something For Baby, Good Greetings - Hostess set
Ink: Island Indigo, Pool Party, Calypso Coral
Cardstock: Whisper White, Island Indigo
Extras: Sequins, Hung Up clips, Baby's First Framelits die
Thought for the Week - Genesis 30:1

I was speaking at a Ladies' Meeting on Friday and this is the text I used - "Rachel envied her sister".
According to the book of Proverbs (and also the personal experience of many people), envy is an awful sin.  It's worse even than anger.  Proverbs 14:30 - envy is "the rottenness of the bones" and Proverbs 27:4 says that "wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?"
People do all sorts of dreadful things when they are jealous of another person.  They will ignore the other person, hurt them, turn others against them, try to outdo them and many other things that most of us couldn't even begin to imagine.  Rachel saw the relationship between herself and Leah as a competition and tried to get one up on Leah all the time, yet you would nearly think it should have been the other way round.  Rachel had so much going for her - she had the looks, the figure and the unfailing love of her husband; Leah didn't have the looks or the love of Jacob, but God had blessed her with children and that is exactly what Rachel wanted.  Nothing else mattered to her.
I hope and pray that the Lord will always keep me content with what I have and not be looking at what others have and thinking they're far better off than me.  What I have is what God has chosen to bless me with and I'm truly thankful for all my blessings.
Remember the words of 1 Timothy 6:6 - "Godliness with contentment is great gain".

Thanks for popping by today and welcome to my new follower!

Niece birthday card

Hello again folks.  Today I want to share a card I made for my daughter to give to her cousin for her birthday.  It was quick and simple to do using the colours Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party and Old Olive.  The stamps are Polka Dot Pieces, Banner Banter and the Back to Basics Alphabet (photopolymer and simple to use!) for the numbers.  I added a couple of buttons I've had from years ago as well as a couple of current sequins on the little banners.  I used the tiny banner punch that goes with the Banner Banter stamps and added a little piece of Crisp Cantaloupe thick baker's twine for the line holding the banners.

Thanks for looking today!

Blogging through the Bible

Hi folks! I just wanted to let you know about this great website I've come across where you can learn how to study God's Word better, get more out of it and deeper into it. I've been doing it for a couple of weeks now and am really enjoying it. I've learned things that I've never really noticed before, even though I've been on the Christian path for over 32 years just goes to show, you're never too old to learn something and life is a learning curve where we just keep on learning all the time! Anyway, it's called Women Living Well. Why not pop over and check it out?!

Also while I'm here I'll just share a tag I made recently for a wedding gift.

Precious baby boy

Hello to all!  Hope your day is going well so far.
Today I have a card to share with you that I made for a wee couple in our church who have just had their first baby.  I made this card for them and I'm going to enter it into the challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday 081514 (which I think, in UK terms, means August 15th 2014).  I've used the new SU! stamps 'Something for Baby' and the matching dies 'Baby's first framelits', along with Itty Bitty Banners stamps and matching dies.  The little heart is stamped using the new 'Something to Say' stamps and punched out with the little matching punch ... don't you just love things that match?!

And here's the sketch I followed...

Thanks for visiting today!  See you again soon x

Pastel wedding card

Good morning to you all!  I haven't been around lately on the blog as I was away on holiday AND I've been having a major craft room clearout and rearranging of my 'stuff', but today I'm back with a card that I made for an upcoming wedding.  I really love the look of embossed vellum which has then been coloured on the back.  I think it is a really soft and gentle look, just right for a wedding.  I always love to add a few pearls to a card like this as they give it a classy look too.  I don't think you can see it too well from the photo but I have also embossed two flourishes in white onto white.

I am entering this card into the challenge over at The Card Concept #16, which is to make a 'wedding card'.   I would say my style for this card is Clean and Layered.  The challenge closes on Monday 18th August so I'm just in on good time.
I am also entering it into Word Art Wednesday #145 where the team there share a Scripture verse which you can use (though you don't have to).  My Thought for the Day ties in with the verse as it talks about the mystery of salvation for the Gentiles.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!.

Word Art Wednesday

Thought for the Week

Matthew 22:3.  This is the story that the Lord Jesus Christ told about a king who had arranged a wonderful wedding for his son and then sent out his servants to invite certain people he would like to come.  When we are invited to a wedding, it's always kind of the people to invite us because weddings are an expensive affair and people have to choose carefully who they would like to be there.  Unfortunately, sometimes people are not invited and they can be offended, as they expected an invite.
However in this case, it is actually the king, the parent of the son getting married, who is offended because those who were kindly invited "would not come".  It's not that they couldn't come, but that they wouldn't come.
The Lord Jesus Christ is explaining here that, whenever the gospel is preached or people witness to the unsaved and tell them that God the Father is inviting them to come and join with Christ His Son, many times people will say "No, I'm not coming to Christ for salvation".  To hear the gospel preached is such a privilege, yet people despise it and think it's not worth their time or consideration.  If God the Father speaks to your heart and warmly welcomes you to salvation in his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, grasp this opportunity with all your heart because it might not come your way again.  In this passage in Matthew 22, the king was angry and turned his invitation away from the people who wouldn't come and invited other people who were more than happy to come.  The Spirit of God will not always knock at your heart's door and you could say "No" to God's offer for the final time.  Accept His offer of mercy when He won't regret it!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a good weekend.

Clean and Simple at Less is More

Hello again!  I have a card to share with you this time that I made for a friend using three yummy Stampin' Up! colours - Soft Sky, Pool Party and Coastal Cabana.  I love the 'Work of Art' stamps, they are so quick and easy to use, very versatile.  I also adore the little butterflies from 'Papillon Potpourri'; this one I stamped in Coastal Cabana and then added tiny pearls to it.  The sentiment is from 'Gifts of Kindness'.
I'm entering this card into the Anything Goes Challenge at Less is More #182.

"Less is More"

I think that's it for today...but who knows!

Have Fun at Anything But a Card

Good afternoon, friends and followers.  Today I'd like to share a couple of little gift bags I made following the instructions I found over at Pootles Papercraft.  Sam shares some wonderful tutorials and her instructions are so clear and easy to use.  This little bag is quick and easy to make and would be great for Christmas or even as wedding favours.  I'm entering these into the Challenge over at Anything But A Card #37 - Anything Goes.  My favourite of the two is the second one, I really like these papers and I also added a bit of matching washi tape onto the little peg here.

Thanks for visiting today.  See you again soon!

Wedding with a flourish

Hello friends.  I hope you're enjoying the beautiful spell of weather recently (if indeed it has been wherever you are).  I love the summer and especially when the weather is good, but here in Northern Ireland, we're not used to high temperatures and I'm afraid I'm not doing too well.  I'm trying to stay indoors with the fans on blasting.  The only time I can cope with being outside at the minute is early morning or at night!

Anyway, this is the season for weddings and my daughter asked me to make her a card for a good friend of hers who will be getting married soon.  I love the very pretty 'Love and Laughter' stamp set, with the gorgeous dress that is made up of lovely wedding phrases.  I embossed this in white onto white cardstock and then lightly sponged it with Pink Pirouette ink to give it a subtle shading.  I also embossed the largest flourish from 'Flowering Flourishes' in white onto white cardstock.  I stamped the Congratulations sentiment in Pink Pirouette.  I die cut and embossed the white cardstock and mounted it all onto Pink Pirouette cardstock.  I embossed six petite petals onto vellum cardstock and punched them out to add the final feminine touch at the bottom of the card.  As you can see, I also added some pearls on the little petals and also on the flourish.

I am going to enter this card into the challenge at AAA Cards, which is to use the photo for inspiration.  I picked out the flowers as a border.

Thanks for visiting today...keep cool!

Colour Throwdown meets Just us Girls!

Hello and welcome to today's post.  The weather here in Northern Ireland is pretty good today, sunny with occasional clouds but very warm, least for us!

My card for today is for a special person (you won't know who you are until you get the card!) just because she (clue) is special.  I found another new challenge called Just us Girls and for their challenge #249 they want us to use some sort of woodgrain on our card/project.  I love Stampin' Up!'s Hardwood Stamp which I just got recently so it was perfect for this card.  I have also used the colours from Colour Throwdown #301 which includes Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate - more of my fave colours!  The sentiment on this card says it all, I think.  I also used the sketch from Paper Craft Crew #102.

Love these colours!

Hello friends!  I have a card to share with you today using 3 of my most favourite Stampin' Up! combination of colours - Crumb Cake, Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe.  I've started following quite a few challenges for colours and sketches and this is a new one to me - In{k}spire Me.  Each week there is either a sketch to follow or colours to use but because this is their 3rd anniversary of the challenge, they are asking us to incorporate a past sketch and colour challenge.  So I have used this colour challenge
and this sketch challenge
in combination for challenge #155.  I have used Designer Series Paper in Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush and inked up the stamps from Petal Parade and Lots of Thanks.  I used my new favourite Stampin' Up! tools - the paper piercer and the Essentials pack (this is great, it has templates that you can use to create lovely shapes which match lots of SU!'s dies and punches).  I'm a great fan of things that match, it makes crafting easier.

Thanks for popping by today.

Hello friends.  Today I have a card to share that I am sending to all of you! (virtually, of course) but the meaning is still the same.  Hope you like it .
I do hope that you are enjoying the summer - my favourite time of year - and that you are getting some decent weather.

I've just discovered I got a mention over at Freshly Made Sketches for one of my cards!  Pleased about this

I have made this card for two challenges, Around the World #21, using colours, and also for Paper Craft Crew #101, which is to follow the sketch below.

Just in time...!

Oh dear, I've just checked to see when the challenge at Colour Throwdown is finishing and it's in 3 hours from now so I need to get this card blogged and in on time!  It's for Challenge #300!

I have used the same sketch that I have used for my last four cards (I think it's great - pop over to CASE This Sketch to see it) and I think this will be my last...well, for now anyway!

I stamped the lovely bloom from Sale-a-bration's Petal Parade in Pumpkin Pie and Baja Breeze, inking the sentiment from Lots of Thanks in Night of Navy.

I've really enjoyed using this sketch and will probably come back to it again in the future,
Thanks for your visit today and thank you to all those who have left lovely comments recently.  It's much appreciated.

Final card for CMCC#28...promise!

Good morning!  This morning I have another card to share with you that I made using Soft Sky, Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White.  I am entering this card into three challenges, Colour Me...Striking #28, Case This Sketch #84(love this sketch!) and Addicted to CAS #42(where the key word is 'Sky' - my use of it is the colour Soft Sky but I'm not sure if this can count!!).

I made the circles by piercing the circles in the Essentials paper piecing pack and then I added some Soft Sky Candy Dots in the centres.  The sentiment is from Work of Art.

Thanks for visiting today.

How to be truly happy!

Hi folks!
Today I would like to share my Thought for the Week with you, taken from Psalm 1.
Everybody is seeking happiness, in some form or another.  Some look for it in alcohol or in drugs, some in popularity, some in doing whatever they want whenever they want.  I'm so glad that God doesn't expect us to be on a constant search for true happiness; He just gives it to us straight and simple in Psalm 1 verses 1 & 2.  The man (or woman) who is truly happy ('blessed') is the one who delights in God's law and spends time reading it, praying over it and living it.  Some people think that being a Christian is boring and restrictive, but I can tell you from experience, this is not the case.  I would much rather have peace in my heart, than popularity on Facebook; I'd rather have eternal grace than short term pleasure; in fact, as the lovely hymn says,

  1. I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
    I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
    I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
    I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
    • Refrain:
      Than to be the king of a vast domain
      Or be held in sin’s dread sway;
      I’d rather have Jesus than anything
      This world affords today.
  2. I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
    I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
    I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
    I’d rather be true to His holy name
  3. He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
    He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
    He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;
    I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead
  4. God bless you today.
  5. I meant to post this card on my blog for you last night and forgot.  It's for Always Playing with Paper Challenge #10 - you can use the colours and/or the sketch.  I used both.

  7. All supplies are Stampin' Up! (available from me)

Gold wedding card, this time!

Hi there!  Hope you don't mind another wedding card, this time it's for the same person as yesterday's, but this time it's gold and from me and my hubby!
I just got this new stamp set recently and couldn't wait to get using it so this was the perfect opportunity.  I just love the detail of words in the pretty dress.  I'm unhappy with the picture because I have my kitchen tablecloth in the background!
I am entering this card into the challenge at Seize the Sketch #24.

That's me for today...thanks for coming by!
